JAI HO !!!!!!!! / JAI HO?

JAI HO !!!!!!!! / JAI HO?

Yesterday was a day of achievement

1. I got my WOW AWARD .thanx to Peggy. It’s a great honour to be recognized by a follow blogger and a great moral boost up for my ego that WOW even I can write and people appreciate it ( Check out my crown on my blog)
2. One of my post was recognized by NO GENDER EQUALITY and they published my post in their blog and in turn I got the privilege to adorn my blog with their badge. Another feather in my blog crown. and I can imagine Neha saying “Momma Aaageyeeeeeeeeee “
3. I became a registered blogger at Indiblogger and was allowed to put their badge in my blog ( I think I am a typical woman. I like to dress up and also I want to enrich my blog with lots of awards, crowns and logos )

I really feel like saying Anju , You are certainly going places!!!!!!!!!!

Talking about going to places even India is rising
Yesterday GAY SEX WAS LEGAISED IN INDIA. A great revolution in India’s history?
But I am not sure whether this is a condemnable step by our legal know hows? Whether this will lead to progress or encourage more and more people to opt for this and as one cynic put LEGALISING GAY SEX IS PROGRESS AS WE WILL BE ABLE TO CHECK THE POPULATION EROSION. So I will reserve my comments and feelings on it for the time being.

Coming to second part of my reflections

One of my blogger buddy has been wearing Red, White and Blue the whole week
Not only that, she makes it a point to see that her dining table is arranged with dishes in the same combination of Red white and Blue ( If cannot have blue dishes then she has blue decoration on her table).
She has also decorated her house with the same combination. You can check out her blog for all this.
When asked the reason for this, her answer left me stunned. She said they are celebrating their INDEPENDECE DAY and she is going to follow the same combination for the entire week. I am just dumbfounded by her patriotic feeling and the sense of belonging to her country.
And then I searched the net and was surprised to find that not only her but there are thousands like her who are celebrating their Independence Day throughout the week ( in USA)
And this forced me to go into self introspection.
What do I do to celebrate my country’s Independence day?
Depending on my mood I sometime wear a white or a combination of white orange or green sari. Or attend the flag hoisting ceremony in my building complex or at the most put a tri colour bindi. And that’s it.
Nothing more than that.
For that matter I wonder what most of my countrymen think of the Independence Day.
For most of them it is a day of public holiday, sleeping late, going for picnics etc. and for our leaders the lesser said the better it is. White kurtas, Gandhi Cap, one or two public functions and then forget about it.
I have seen in movie halls parents forbidding their children from standing during the national anthem. Or seen people searching for their seats even when the anthem is being played.
I read somewhere that people who cannot stand when national anthem is being played due to some physcial handicap they raise their right hand in respect of the national anthem and their country, Not only that one should rise to show our respect when national anthems of other country is being played. How many of us do it? rise for other country's? so many of us dont do it for our own.
what do the so many Indians settled abroad feel about this important day of our country. Admitted that they don’t get holiday on that day but do they plan something to celebrate this day or do they tell their children about India and its Independence or they treat it like any other day of their life?
I questioned myself that the feeling of belongingness which my blogger buddy or thousand like her has ---is it because of the faith they have in their Government and its machinery? Or is it because of the comforts and stability which their country is providing them? Or is it because of the progress which their country has shown? Or is it because of the recognition, importance and support which their system gives them or is it something more which I am not able to understand.

Hurrah to the Delhi High Court. This was an archaic law and it needed to go.
About the second part of your blog, I think people here are also patriotic. Some people perhaps just dont know how to show it.
People also confuse the government with the country. And if they are disappointed with the government, they think showing disrespect to the country's laws or not standing up when the national anthem is playing will show their
apathy.
Sorry for rambling. Got a little carried away.

Bhuva, Indeed your achievement is very well taken and all accolades for you to get this recognition in the blogging world.

As far as the second aspect of a sense of patriotism, I'd say that we Indians are also not far away. Slowly but steadily the feeling is growing in every Indian about self belonging to the country and above all, believing in the system and the well oiled machinery that is currently running such a fragile system here in India.

Not to forget it's been only 61 years for us to emerge as an independent nation as compared to many hundreds for the Americans. Slowly but steadily, the change is definitely coming in. With Barack Obama as the first Black US President, A Chinese being the best NBA (Basketball) player, a White being the top notch rapper (Eminem), a Black the best Golf player (Tiger Woods), this country is definitely leading the way in globalization and is making the rest of the world realize that one has to believe in themselves regardless of what country, origin or sex they are from.

Definitely JAI HO to the rising India one step at a time.

wow! wow award! Congrats ji congrats!
I have seen people not standing for national anthems also. Hell, I feel like asking them to atleast show respect to their in that way!
What do I do on Independence day? I bunk the school function and chill-maarofy at home! Yes, I'm very non-patriotic when it comes to standing in sun listening to big lectures of principal! But, I do stand up for national anthems! :-)

congrats for the award anju..good going...:)

Well I dont know how making it non-criminal will make ppl to opt for it??...Do you think ppl where awaiting this so they can turn gay??... I dont think so. It will protect Gay's Lesbians from police harrasment and will give them the right they deserve. And if you start putting ur thght on hold because of some cynical comment. Trust me you won't be able to write any other post on social topic....:)

Coming to independence celebration I think I will echo APARNA's view.

First congratulations to u on getting that WOW award...u deserved it!!!

Well people in India do celebrate their independence, its just that its different as compared to western countries. Western countries cant celebrate the way we do nor can we celebrate the way they do.
Some people dont know how to express their feeling and i its fine unless u know that u love and respect this day. Everywhere in the world u have some people who are not much concerned in all these...so its not only India..but its a small population. People enjoying Independence Day is good. I think its fine going for picnics on this day.

Hello!!!!
First let me say this about Gays/Lesbians, I must first say I do NOT Hate them as I have an Aunt who is Gay and my husband has an Uncle who is Gay, but I think to legalize GAY SEX is well OK, I do not want anyone harmed nor harassed for what they want to do, with that said though, it is against the way I believe as I believe the Word of God spoken to us in the Bible clearly states it is a sin and God destroyed Sodom and Gohmorrah over acts of immorality. In the Unitd States, many states are Making Same Sex couples legal to be Married!!! MARRIED like a Marriage, are you kidding me??? A MARRIAGE is between a MAN and a WOMAN, not same sex, have your same sex union --have rights as any other couple have rights, but do not destroy the sanctity of marriage for your Liberal beliefs. I often wonder is this why America is in the depths of a depression that mirrors that of the Great depression because or leader has not Recognized the the United States of America is a Nation founded of Christian Beliefs and Values. If people really read our constitution, this country was Certainly founded on a Country that Values God's Blessings upon her. I think until the people of this country stand up and acknowledge this we will not be spared deeper financial woes. Not that monetary blessings are all that is important because it is not, having favor and Mercy from God are highest priority.
With that said, I feel as well Sin is Sin, whether it be Gay Sin or Adultery, Murder, Stealing, it is all Sin in the eyes of God and as a child of God, I know you can repent and ask for forgiveness and he is a loving God like our earthly father only so much more and he forgives us. I hope that makes sense and does not offend you, as I do not know what religion you are, and it doesn't matter to me, you are my friend regardless, like you mentioned us Americans are very diverse people and some have racists views, I was not raised that way. The reason I do not see eye to eye with Pres. Obama is not that he is black, but that he is not what is best for America in my opinion.
Thank you so much for speaking so kindly about my Patriotism!!!I love this country and always have, I love our short 233 years of Independence from England, yours a much shorter time, but clearly a day to be proud, I love that i raised 3 Patriots to be Proud of their Country and Stand up and Voice your Opinions about what is god and bad about it, my Son is starting his 2nd year of Law School, most Law schools are very Liberal and I'm so Proud of him for standing up and saying in class his different objectives to what they want the class to hear, one of his Professors who happened to be a woman, when he voiced a difference of opinion, almost cried one day and she said to him, "one day it would be am Honor to argue a case against you because you are strong in your opinions and not follow the crowd type of person." He ended up being in the top 10% of his class all the while not caving in to the liberal views of most Professors.
Well I have babbled on long enough
God Bless you my dear friend and thank you again for bringing up the attention of your fellow Indian friends to be proud of their country!!!!
love,
jamie

whoaaa babes... congrats on ur award... m soo proud of u..muaaah :)

about the Independence day...i dont relate to the independence day of USA at all... because inside I am Indian and shall remain so always... its just not a holiday...it marks the freedom struggle and the victory over it...

may be i am biased and have a great connection with my country... but there's one thing a friend pointed out today to me and i feel so proud about it...
i am not trying to condenm any country or the culture/rituals...
in India on 26th January..the Republic Day ... all states come together and have ONE show/parade and in USA... each state/town has its own parade
they probably have a history behind it...but i just feel proud that we are one...:)

Congratulations Anju!

and thanks for writing for NGI (Non Gender Inequality). Much appreciated.

As for independence, I respect my motherland and host country the same way. Both gave me a lot. But I don't believe in wearing my patriotism on my sleeve. What I feel or do for both countries is personal..of my own.
